Reflection on Unit 2 - Strategy for Teaching Literacy with ICT
In Unit 2, I learned about different ways of using technology and projects in teaching and learning. The first part was about lab-based learning, where classrooms are set up with technology to support lessons. I realized that such classrooms can make learning more interactive and interesting, but they also come with challenges like cost, maintenance, and lack of skills to use the devices.
We also discussed and learned about problem-based learning (PBL). I found that the PBL process very engaging because it helps us and allows students to explore real problems and work together to solve them. I understood that in PBL, the teacher is more like a guide, while students take more responsibility for their own learning. This approach seems very effective in building critical thinking and teamwork skills. No matter what kind of problem we face, we can solve with the concept of problem-based learning (PBL).
The last topic was project-based learning. I learned that PBL projects are usually long-term, where students plan, research, and create something meaningful. The characteristics and stages showed me that it is more structured than it looks, and it can make students feel ownership of their learning. However, I also saw that it has both benefits and drawbacks. While it improves creativity, problem-solving, and collaboration, it can also be time-consuming and sometimes difficult to manage.
Overall, this unit helped me see that technology and project-based methods are not just about making classes modern, but about making learning deeper and more active. It also made me think about how I can use these approaches as a future teacher to make learning both meaningful and practical. These teaching and learning strategies really help us to form a good foundation for teaching and learning in the classroom.
